Later Years Therapy

Finding Connection, Purpose, and Meaning

in the 'Third Act' of Life

Aging brings both complexity and clarity. I work with adults 60 and older who are navigating the emotional and relational shifts of this stage of life — including retirement, changing roles, grief and loss, health transitions, and the search for meaning in the “third act” of life. Together, we create a compassionate space to explore, heal, and grow.

Later Years Therapy is available to individuals and couples of all genders seeking support with the challenges and opportunities of later life. Whether you are coping with loss, adjusting to new family dynamics, redefining your roles, or searching for renewed purpose and connection, you don’t have to face it alone. I am here to walk alongside you with care, understanding, and hope.

I offer compassionate, client-centered support tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities that come with the later years. My focus is on promoting psychological and emotional well-being by addressing issues that often emerge during this period, including:

Life Transitions and Identity

  • Retirement and Role Changes: Retirement can bring joy, relief, but also uncertainty or loss of purpose. Adjusting to new routines and redefining yourself beyond work is a common challenge.

  • Loss and Grief: Coping with the loss of loved ones, health, or independence can deeply impact emotional health. Grief may resurface repeatedly, and it’s important to find ways to heal while continuing to live meaningfully.

  • Evolving Relationships: Shifts in family dynamics, caregiving roles, or social connections can cause feelings of isolation or loneliness.

Mental and Emotional Health

  • Anxiety and Depression: Later life can bring worries about health, finances, or the future, which may trigger or worsen mood disorders.

  • Cognitive Changes: Experiences of forgetfulness, “brain fog,” or slowed thinking can be frustrating and impact daily life.

  • Meaning and Purpose: Many adults in later life search for renewed meaning, connection, and fulfillment—whether through new hobbies, volunteering, or personal growth.

Connection and Social Engagement

  • Combatting Isolation: Social isolation is a significant concern for many older adults, and therapy can help cultivate connection and community.

  • Building Support Systems: Developing new friendships or reconnecting with family can improve emotional resilience and life satisfaction.

For Couples In Their Later Years

Long-term intimate relationships in later life can bring unique challenges. The Gottman Method can help couples address issues such as adjusting to retirement together, navigating health changes, coping with grief or loss, managing shifting family roles, and rekindling intimacy after years of routine. With a focus on strengthening communication when old patterns have created distance or conflict, and on rediscovering connection, this evidence-based approach provides tools to reduce tension, foster understanding, and create a renewed sense of closeness and partnership in your later years.

Working from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective, I create a warm and supportive space where you can explore your feelings, address challenges, and discover new ways to thrive in your later years.

Together, we’ll work on building resilience, finding purpose, and fostering connection—so this chapter of life can be fulfilling, meaningful, and rich with growth.
