Frequently Asked Questions

Many clients have questions before starting therapy. Here, you’ll find answers about private-pay sessions, Women's Midlife Mental Health, Gottman Method couples therapy, session options, and how my intentional, client-centered approach supports your personal growth and relationship goals.

Q: What should I expect in my first session?

A: Your first session is an opportunity to connect, share your story, and explore your goals. We’ll discuss your needs and determine the best approach for you—whether navigating midlife transitions, relationship challenges, or both.

Q: How do I schedule a session?

A: You can schedule your consultation or session directly through the website or contact me to find a time that works for you. I generally respond to inquiries and requests for phone consultations within 24 hours during business operating days and hours.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: I am a private-pay therapist. This allows me to provide intentional, client-centered care without insurance limitations, ensuring therapy remains focused on your growth rather than external restrictions.

Q: How long are sessions?

A: Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. Couples sessions are longer in length to allow space for both partners and meaningful relational work. Session format and frequency will be discussed during your consultation to ensure the structure supports your goals.

Q: How long will therapy take?

A: The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and needs. Some clients gain clarity in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Together, we’ll create a plan that reflects your priorities, pace, and the depth of work you're seeking.

Q: What are your fees?

A: Fees are shared during the initial phone consultation. This allows space to discuss session type, length, and your specific needs while ensuring clarity and transparency around your investment in therapy.

Q: Can I switch between individual and couples sessions?

A: If you begin therapy as part of a couple and later choose to transition into individual work, that is possible. However, once that transition is made, I am no longer able to serve as your couples therapist. I do not transition individual clients into couples therapy, as this can create inherent bias or impact relational dynamics.

Q:  Can I attend couples therapy without the other partner?

A: Couples therapy is most effective when both partners are present and actively engaged. Attending alone can provide insight into your own patterns and behaviors, but meaningful relational change requires participation from both partners. If one partner is unable or unwilling to attend, we can discuss individual strategies for growth, but it won’t substitute for full couples work.

Q: Do you offer telehealth sessions?

A: Yes, I offer secure online sessions for both individual and couples therapy. Clients must be physically located in California at the time of service. Virtual sessions must take place in a private stationary location where privacy is maintained. Use of earphones is required if others are present in the space, and sessions may not be conducted while driving. These guidelines help preserve safety, focus, and confidentiality.

Q: What makes your approach different?

A: My work is relational, collaborative, and centered on your unique story. I integrate evidence-based practices such as CBT for midlife transitions and Gottman Method couples therapy, with a somatic-informed lens that attends to emotional and physiological awareness. This boutique, high-touch approach ensures therapy is personalized, intentional, and focused on sustainable growth.

Q: How do I know if therapy is right for me?

A: Therapy is a commitment to personal and relational growth. If you’re navigating midlife transitions, relationship challenges, emotional stress, identity shifts, or feeling stuck, therapy can offer clarity, support, and tools to help you move forward with intention.
